MONTREAL – Students in Quebec are warning the provincial government that its plan to raise university tuition fees by 75 per cent will result in crippling debt levels and a showdown with their powerful unions.
A small but boisterous group of students took to the streets on Friday to express their anger at the government’s intention to hike annual tuition by $325 a year for five (5) years.

“The biggest thing I hear is that they feel as though they don’t have any hope,” he said. “We have got to change people’s minds.”

Students protest Nova Scotia tuition hike

Students in Nova Scotia took to the streets Wednesday to protest tuition hikes and funding decreases in the province.
Hundreds of students joined the Canadian Federation of Students’ (CFS) Day of Action, protesting the province’s decision to hike tuition by 3% and decrease university funding by 4%.
“We’re in a snowfall, so this is really great,” said Gabe Hoogers, Dalhousie University student CFS Nova Scotia representative, as chants and cheers roared in the background. “I think it will send a message to the legislature.”
U of M students at Capitol Tuesday to protest tuition hikes

University of Minnesota, UNITED UNITED UNITED STATES of AMERICA students will be at the Capitol Tuesday to tell legislators to back off any budget plans that would raise tuition.
Buses from the University’s campuses will bring students to St. Paul to rally and meet with legislators.
The College Republicans group says it will be there, too, supporting the call for affordable tuition. They’ll also make a point of asking for “fiscal sanity” at the U.
