The New Harvard Guide to Women's Health (Harvard University Press Reference Library)

With the publication in 1996 of The Harvard Guide to Women’s Health, women seeking answers to questions about their health had access to the combined expertise of physicians from three of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions: Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. With complete information on women’s health concerns, physical and behavioral, this A to Z reference quickly became a definitive resource, praised especially for its coverage of topics not previously considered under the umbrella of women’s health. The New Harvard Guide to Women’s Health reunites the authors to bring a valued health reference up to date for a new generation–and for those women who have come to rely on the Harvard Guide and are now wondering what to do about their health as they enter a new stage of life, asking questions like the following:

  • I’ve been on hormone replacement therapy. Should I stop? How?
  • Could this rash be lupus?
  • I’ve been on the Pill. What is my risk for stroke?
  • Fat is bad, fat is good: What should I believe? And what’s left to eat?
  • When does ordinary worry become chronic anxiety?
  • What screening tests do I need now?

A Guide to Women's Health: Fifty and forward

DOES McGill UNIVERSITY in MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA ……..have it’s own publishing house??

Do professors write books about WOMEN’S WOMEN’S WOMEN’S HEALTH ??

I don’t watch t.v. —but have there been CANADIAN WOMEN DOCTORS ON GLOBAL/CTV/CBC ……….promoting their publications???

It is a very important way for Mother’s to bond with their children. (This is what I hear pediatricians say on t.v………………when I used to watch t.v.)

The breast produces a substance called COLOSTRUM, when the child is still very young.

It is full of nourishment and helps to build the child’s BRAIN.

Cow’s milk builds the child’s BONES.

All of my siblings and I were breast fed.

I am not a DOCTOR…….so you should speak to your FAMILY DOCTOR ….if you have one…ahem…..about this very important issue.

  • It might not be the right choice if you are taking medication …like I am.
  • It can hurt…..babies sometimes bite :(((
  • some women are embarrassed by it.
  • some working women may not be able to fit it into their schedule.

Montreal moms hold public breastfeeding demonstration

Michelle O'Connor nurses her son Mijandro at a nurse-in Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Montreal.

Shannon Smith was recently shopping at a store called Orchestra when her infant got hungry, so she began to nurse her in a semisecluded seating area for kids.

But a clerk instructed her and another breastfeeding mother to stop — so she left the store.

Smith blogged about the incident and her story triggered a torrent of outrage.–montreal-moms-hold-public-breastfeeding-demo

Based in Bloomington, Indiana, Green Bananas Clothing is a new age lifestyle brand focusing on apparel and accessories. Our focus is to bring a new perspective and look to underground and street wear fashion. Our line is inspired by retro/streetwear/sneaker fashion combined with pop culture of today and a vision of the future.

Founded by two multiracial brothers who have always taken pride in their against-the-grain attitude and their ability to recreate styles and trends to their own liking. In 2007, both unhappy with their current career, they decided to start a clothing brand to combat the stale state of street wear. When it came to choosing a name, they took inspiration from their father who had just successfully grown a slew of banana trees; one of which actually produced bananas!

For the climate in Indiana, this is unheard of—as is starting a clothing company in a like Bloomington. The name, Green Bananas, also represents the mentality of these two brothers who insist on being “fresher than the rest”. So when a brand or individual brag about being “fresh”, just remember: Green Bananas is fresher!
